CRACKDOWN CRACKDOWN CRACKDOWN !!!
Meru Senator Kathuri Murungi is pushing for a wider government crackdown on illegal firearms, calling for the operation to be extended to the Meru border and Northern Grazing Corridor amid repeated attacks on livestock keepers. Kathuri wants Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen to take the operation into the affected areas and target illegally held guns blamed for fuelling insecurity.
The senator said expanding the operation would help disrupt armed raids and protect communities and their livestock from repeated attacks. He urged security agencies to intensify the search for illegal firearms in the affected areas, saying stronger action was needed to tackle the security threat facing Meru livestock keepers.

Kathuri also wants the government to move quickly on livestock recovered during the operation, calling for Meru herders to be allowed to identify and reclaim animals believed to have been stolen from them. He said returning recovered livestock to their owners would help ease losses suffered during raids and restore confidence among affected communities.
