Senate Deputy Speaker and Meru Senator Kathuri Murungi has been conferred with the Moran of the Order of the Golden Heart of Kenya (MGH), one of the country’s prestigious national honours.

The honour was presented on behalf of President William Samoei Ruto, CGH, by National Assembly Speaker Moses Masika Wetang’ula, EGH, during a ceremony at Parliament Buildings in Nairobi.
The MGH is the third class of the Order of the Golden Heart of Kenya, following the Chief of the Order of the Golden Heart (CGH) and the Elder of the Order of the Golden Heart (EGH).

Murungi thanked President Ruto for the recognition, saying the honour would strengthen his resolve to serve with integrity, professionalism and dedication.

The Meru Senator said the award was both an acknowledgement of his public service and a renewed responsibility to continue serving the nation.
The ceremony brought together recipients of national honours drawn from Parliament, the Judiciary, government and other public institutions.

Among those present were Speaker of the Senate Amason Jeffah Kingi, EGH, Clerk of the National Assembly Samuel Njoroge, and Clerk of the Senate Jeremiah M. Nyegenye, CBS, alongside other senior parliamentary officials.
The conferment places Murungi among Kenyans recognised under the national honours system for distinguished service to the country.
