Dp Prof.Kithure Kindiki Launches Two Major Roads in Tharaka Nithi, Rallies Support for Ruto

THARAKA NITHI COUNTY

Deputy President Prof. Kithure Kindiki has launched two major road projects in Tharaka Nithi County, saying the Government’s continued investment in infrastructure will accelerate development and transform connectivity across the country.

Kindiki launched the Kibugua–Mukuuni–Itugururu–Kabururu–Kamaindi–Murigi/Mati Road Junction in Chuka-Igamba Ng’ombe Constituency and later launched the Marima–Mumbuni–Makutano Road in Maara Constituency.

The Government is spending Sh2.5 billion on the Kibugua–Mukuuni–Itugururu–Kabururu–Kamaindi–Murigi/Mati road project, which is expected to improve transport and open up the area for increased economic activity.

Speaking while inspecting and launching the projects, Kindiki praised the Government’s move to establish a National Infrastructure Fund, saying it would provide a sustainable solution to the country’s infrastructure challenges.

He said the fund would help accelerate the upgrading of roads and other infrastructure networks to modern standards, reducing the backlog of projects across the country.

At Kabururu Market, where he addressed residents after inspecting the road works, the Deputy President announced that the Government’s next major road-dualling project would be the Makutano–Mwea–Embu–Chuka–Meru–Maua road.

Kindiki said improved road infrastructure was critical to boosting trade, connecting communities and creating opportunities for economic growth.

The Deputy President also used the public engagement to rally residents behind President William Ruto’s re-election bid, saying the Kenya Kwanza administration had demonstrated its commitment to development through the implementation of infrastructure and other Government programmes.

He said supporting Ruto would also provide continuity for the Government’s development agenda, while linking his own political future to the President’s succession plans.

Kindiki further addressed his relationship with former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, saying the two enjoyed a good working relationship when he served as Interior Cabinet Secretary and Gachagua was Deputy President.

He, however, accused Gachagua of later turning against the Government from within and contributing to divisions among Kenyans.

The Deputy President’s visit to Tharaka Nithi comes as the Government steps up implementation of road projects in the county, with residents looking forward to improved connectivity and easier access to markets and essential services.

Kindiki was accompanied by Tharaka Nithi Governor Muthomi Njuki, Chuka-Igamba Ng’ombe MP Patrick Munene, Tharaka MP Gitonga Murugara and Maara MP Kareke Mbiuki, among other leaders.
